The University will be offering various types of course instruction modes for classes. To accommodate all students safely, course modes will vary based on the offered class.

What is a Course Instruction Mode?

A course instruction mode identifies how the class will be taught. The class may be held 面对面, online, or a combination of both. Refer to the course catalog when enrolling.

Helpful Tips for Registration

  • Check for your scheduled registration appointment time and date on your Student Center.
  • Clear any registration Holds that prevent enrollment.
  • Browse the catalog and add classes in your cart ahead of time!

Instruction Modes/Modality

面对面

All students are expected to meet in real time at scheduled class times, 面对面, 在一个校园的位置.

  • 例子: Class meets MWF 9:00-9:50 A.M. 在国防部 1003.

HerkyFlex(面对面 & 同步)

Students choose between two options of how, when, and where they attend class. Students will make their selection about which option they will take upon enrolling in the class:

  • 选项1: Meet at scheduled class times, 面对面, on campus.
  • 选项2: Meet at pre-determined scheduled class times online through a remote connection (via Zoom).
    • 例子: Class meets MWF 9:00-9:50 M. 在MND 1003和超过Zoom.

HyFlex (In-person, Synchronous, Asynchronous)

Students choose between three options of how, when, and where they attend class. Students can decide which option to select week-by-week throughout the semester.

  • 选项1: Meet at the scheduled class time in person in an on-campus classroom.
  • 选项2: Meet at the scheduled class time through a remote connection (via Zoom).
  • 选项3: Attend asynchronously completing class sessions using online materials.
    • 例子: Class meets MWF 9:00-9:50 M. 在国防部1003 和 在放大 和 可用的异步.

混合(面对面 & 同步)

All students are expected to meet at scheduled class times, 面对面, 在一个校园的位置 on a rotating basis. When students are not scheduled to meet 面对面 and on-campus, they are expected to attend class at scheduled class times through a remote connection via Zoom.

Instructors can decide how to rotate students for 面对面 instruction in the following ways:

  • 选项1: The instructor divides up the class into cohorts, and the cohorts rotate the days that they attend the live class sessions 面对面 and through a remote connection via Zoom.
  • 选项2: The instructor can designate a certain number of 面对面 seats available for each class Students can sign-up for the 面对面 seats as designated by the instructor’s sign-up guidelines.
    • 例子: Class meets MWF 9 - 9:50 a.m. 在国防部1003 和 在放大 和 可用的异步.
    • 例子: Class meets MWF 9 - 9:50 a.m. The class is divided into three cohorts. 周一, Cohort 1 meets 在国防部1003, while Cohorts 2 and 3 attend the class via remote connection (Zoom). 周三, 第二组在1003国防部集合, while Cohorts 1 and 3 attend the class via remote connection (Zoom). 在周五, Cohort 3 meets 在国防部1003 while Cohorts 1 and 2 attend the class via remote connection (Zoom).

All students are expected to meet for some portion of their total class hours at scheduled class times, 面对面, 在一个校园的位置. The remaining portion of all students’ total class time is scheduled online asynchronously or synchronously, depending on the course content.

例子: Class meets in person on Wednesday and Friday 9 - 9:50 a.m. 在国防部1003; Monday’s class work to be completed asynchronously online.

Online Synchronous (Online Only)

All students are expected to meet in real-time at scheduled class times through a remote connection (via Zoom). Some synchronous class sessions may be replaced with asynchronous work as detailed in the course syllabus.

Online Asynchronous (Online Only)

All students are expected to complete coursework using online materials without specific class meeting days and times.

例子: Class materials distributed and interactions conducted via Canvas. No class sessions scheduled, but synchronous time for office hours or optional study sessions may be offered as appropriate.
